What we do

It’s all about people. It may look like it’s about teeth but it isn’t. It’s about people.
We do not host any form of advertisement. Our goal is to empower people to take control of their dental health. Anyone can do it and the information is all here. Adults, children, parents or schools; there is stuff for everyone.
We want to make sure that everyone who needs it or wants it can get the information they need to care for their mouths. By dispelling the myths around dental treatments, we hope that we can reduce peoples anxieties and help people to chose the treatment that is best for them.
There’s loads here. Stuff on preventing disease. Stuff on treatments. There’s stuff for kids. Articles, videos, activities. There’s stuff for oral health education in schools. We will keep adding to it and if there’s anything you think would be useful, please ask.
It’s here for you. What would you like to know about?

Why this is important ?

Most problems that people get in their mouths are preventable. Every day, when people lose, break or experience pain with teeth, it has been caused by preventable diseases.
Thousands of people suffer every year, including thousands of children who are admitted to hospital every year because of tooth decay.
It is the single biggest reason for children being admitted to hospital in the UK, with the figure fast approaching 50,000 children every year. These children are being put to sleep for treatment of a disease which is preventable. It is not acceptable and we must make a change.
Our belief is that it comes down to education. If we can provide people, parents, children and schools with the information they need, we can prevent people continuing to suffer. We must make a difference.

About Andrew

My name is Andrew. I am a dentist and creator of The Online Dentist. The best bit about my job is communicating and building relationships with people. Forget the teeth. It’s the person that is important. A dentist cannot provide care for you if they haven’t understood you and your needs. And you cannot be treated by someone who hasn’t gained your trust.
That’s the key to my philosophy and how I work. We help people, not teeth.
